hot girl summer getaways in Michigan
You would actually be surprised how much Michigan has to offer! I know, it’s Michigan (you’re probably thinking I’m making this up). I’ve even discovered some hidden gems in my twenties that I didn’t know we had that I’ve enjoyed over the years. So here are some things you may consider adding to your calendar next summer!
traverse city
Our version of "wine country," Traverse City! I've been a few times with groups of friends, and our sole purpose was wine tasting. Once, we went for the weekend in the summer and stayed off the beach. There are so many hotels in the area to choose from, such as Sugar Beach Resort Hotel. There are so many wineries to visit as well. The ones that I recall visiting include Mari Vineyards, Chateau Grand Traverse Winery, and Chateau Chantal. You may consider choosing your own or going on a pre-planned tour. If you're interested in fresh ice cream, you should definitely visit Moomers. If Blue Moon is on the menu as some of the flavors change daily, your choice is already chosen for you. It's my favorite and I had it years ago!
torch lake
Torch Lake, also known as Michigan’s Caribbean (*clears throat, Forbes*). While it’s undoubtedly the most transparent water I’ve seen in Michigan, it is a slight stretch lol. Boat day has been annual friend time amongst one of my friendship circles for years. We rent a pontoon, spend the day on a lake, tell jokes and be merry! Sometimes we stay semi-local and go as far as Torch or Coldwater. This past year was the first time I heard of Torch Lake and when my friend showed me pictures, it was hard to believe the pictures were real. Yes, Torch is the most beautiful lake in Michigan, but we don’t have to go that far for friend fun every summer. Its worth a visit with a fun crew.
grand haven
While we've only been to Salmon Festival once as a posse, it's certainly one of our favorite friend times! First off, they had me at grape stomp! This always looked like fun from the many times I watched Pretty Woman, but I never really thought I would actually get the opportunity to do it. The salmon samples were delicious! We went a few years ago, and we still talk about the salmon pate as if we tried it yesterday! The vendors change yearly, but I'm hopeful when we make our way, it'll be on the list again. There are wine tasting and lots of other activities as well. Grand Haven is about three hours away from Detroit, so we made a day of it. We went to the beach and some local shops before finally making our way back home. We are definitely looking forward to adding Salmon Festival back to our calendar in the future.
The maple house
The Maple House is a super cute Airbnb in Middleberry, IN about three hours away from Detroit. Its a rather adorabable home located in small town that's great for friend time! My friends cooked. I ate. We told jokes and played games.
It's safe to say everyone had a ball and we're looking forward to our next friend's brunch! Until next time!
